Developers
Do you submit planning applications or development proposals?
Are you under pressure to show how your projects benefit the local community?
Construction Futures offers a cost-effective method to provide apprenticeships and training placements on new developments.
Using industry-led software, we realistically forecast what training opportunities could be generated by a development. The requirements are then embedded in the legal agreements tied to planning permissions and passed to contractors through the procurement process.
Once the development is on-site, we work with local with training providers to supply motivated trainees
Our team manages the process from start to finish. Put simply, the Construction Futures approach works – to everyone’s advantage.
How it works
Step 1 – Training opportunities forecasted
As you prepare a planning application or initial development proposal, the Construction Futures team can forecast the number and range of potential training
placements and apprenticeships on the site.
Step 2 - Construction Futures strategy agreed
The training and apprenticeship opportunities can be embedded in a Construction Futures strategy. This can be presented as part of a planning application submission or initial development proposal.
Step 3 – Development approved and legal agreements completed
The training and apprenticeship requirements are embedded in the legal agreements tied to the eventual planning permission. Construction Futures has developed the legal framework to make this possible via section 106 agreements or the Community Infrastructure Levy.
If necessary, the developer can pass the training requirements to their contractors via their tendering process. Again, we have developed the necessary legal procedures to make this happen.
Step 4 - Schedule agreed and trainees recruited
Once the contractor is on site, Construction Futures liaises with them to agree a training and apprenticeships schedule. Their needs are matched against a bespoke skills database, with details of potential trainees in their area from local colleges.
Step 5 – Trainees on site
As the training placements and apprenticeships are delivered, Construction Futures monitors the process and provides regular support to everyone involved, including the contractor, trainees and colleges.
